Built in 1702, the castle of Sorquainville is a typical house the nobility of Upper Normandy used to erect and live in, late in the reign of Louis XIV.

A picture of the Marquise de Sorquainville, painted in 1749 by Perroneau, portrait-maker of the Louis XV's court, is exhibited at the Louvre Museum.

Carefully restored in the very spirit of a noble house of old times, most of the original decorative features have been preserved as they stood ever since the 18th and 19th centuries. Naturally, all the necessary modern conveniencies and comforts have been added.

Tall century-old beeches shelter the 3 acres park. Linden-trees, roses and hydrangeas adorn it too. The kitchen garden and the fruit-trees attest that this is a real daily life place of a family.
Though access to Sorquainville is easy and quick from any major road, the traditional countryside environment of the castle remains protected and quiet.
